VillainROM 2.1 for Samsung Galaxy S II

VillainROM 2.1 The ROM Noonski couldn't drain the battery on.

The latest custom ROM from VillainROM for the SGS2 is VillainROM 2.1. It's based on XXKG2 leaked firmware. Thanks to the Darkyy guys for getting their mits on it, and to their "source"



First of all, if you are upgrading from VillainROM 1.2 or above, just flash this from CF-Root version of CWM. I suggest a backup first. A wipe is not required, but if you have issues, is suggested. I updated without a wipe, and no issues here.

If you are installing from another ROM, or stock ROM, you need to be using the CF-Root kernel, as applicable for your current ROM. You can find CF-Root and instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1103399

When using this ROM, I suggest the XWKG1 CF-Root kernel, from post 4 of Chainfire's thread, until a KG2 version is available

5. Use the following commands to wipe data and reboot:
   • moto-fastboot -w
   • moto-fastboot reboot

 Seems the stock ROM above causes a serious issues, jruweaver stated as of July 2011:

At this point it seems that once flashing this you may not be able to revert to a lower firmware without unlocking your BL! This build also may not receive OTAs. So in summary flashing this may cripple your ability to OTA!

URGENT!! Flashing any SBF 1.8.3, 1.5.7, or 1.2.6 using RSD after updating via this method results in permabrick!

Android 2.3 Gingerbread Upgrade for Sprint Galaxy Tab

The 2.3 Gingerbread update is now out for Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab 7-inch users.
The said update will roll out for 4 days until it reaches all Sprint Galaxy tab subscribers.

The said firmware version is: Baseband S:P100.08 S.EF17, Build GINGERBREAD.EF17 and the downloading time will take approximately around 5 minutes.

All Samsung Galaxy Tab provided by Sprint can update over the air.

1. From the Home screen, tap Menu

2. Select Settings > About My Galaxy Tab > System updates

3. Choose either Update Android or Update Firmware

4. Your Samsung Galaxy Tab will automatically download and install any available updates. You may need to power it off

These packages can be install and flash manually to to Iconia A500. You may just select the right fimware version of your phone like for example if your  A500 16GB wifi only phone currently running 1.104.02 you can flashed the OTA update version 1.144.07.

How to flash?
- You have to download Acer Update Decryter to decrypt these firmware.
- Once the file is already decrypted, Extract the update.zip from it,
- Copy it to external SDCard (does not work on internal memory)
- Boot your Iconia A500 tablet by pressing Volume Down & Power. Then update will be launch automatically. Read the full guides at XDA-developer for further instruction.
