The said update is now only available in Germany and was released via Kies. Some users in Europe already managed to upgrade by using the stock ROM. If you are an advance users, you can also upgrade your Galaxy Note to ICS 4.0.4 using the original N7000XXLRG Stock ROM.
How to manually upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 ICS 4.0.4 N7000XXLRG Stock ROM on
This stock ROM can be used for international version of Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 only, unbranded,unlocked or without network lock. Can work on all Europe and Asia unbranded versions with product code GT-N7000. This firmware packaged includes all major European languages. Do not use this firmware to other variants or you may encountered some undesired functionality issues.

- Back-up all important data stored from the device
- Make sure the battery is fully charge
- Use PC runs with Windows OS and good USB serial port
-Remember the Network APN settings of your phone, you'll need to reconfigure it again after flashing (other countries only)
- Grab stock ROM, USB driver and Odin
-Extract the firmware after download so that you'll get the Odin flashable tar file N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_N7000XXLRB_HOME.tar.md5
1) Run Odin
2) Click on the PDA button, then load the N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_N7000XXLRB_HOME.tar.md5
3) The "Re-partition checkbox SHOULD NOT be checked
4) Put the Galaxy Note in Download Mode (Press Volume Down+Home+Power button)
then Press Volume Up when the Warning message appears
5) Connect the phone to PC, using the supplied USB cable
6) Hit "START" button to begin flashing
7) Wait until the flashing finishes
That's it! if you encountered bootloops after flashing, just perform a factory reset and it will boot normally again.
- Change the default language which is in German to your own local language.
- Reconfigure APN settings if having WiFi or network connection issues.
Android ICS 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Features on Samsung Galaxy Note
Some interesting features added is the POPup Play that enables you to watch movies while mailing, this features can be seen on the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S3. The second one is the Signature Unlock, where you can unlock the phone with your signature. This feature is almost the same the Face Unlock from previous 4.0.3. The looks is completely different for the lock screen icon and buttons were changed.
